My 5 Favourite Music Videos

                                1.  Middle - DJ Snake ft. Bipolar Sunshine
Middle was released 16th March 2016 and is featured on DJ snakes latest album Encore. I really like this music video because it is a unique story line for a music video. It has an underling message which is that cultural differences are still sometimes not accepted in society.

                                                2. Sia - The Greatest
The Greatest music video was released 5th September 2016, it is Sia's tribute to the lost victims of the Orlando. I really like this video because it has a deep underling meaning and because the video is made of dark dull colours it is contrasted by the rainbow which is the flag for LGBT+ which is symbolic because the shooting was in a gay bar in Orlando.

3. Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth - See You Again
See you again music video was released 6th April 2015, it is featured on the soundtrack for Fast and Furious 7. I really like this video because of the idea behind this music video, It was made to honour Paul Walker who passed away in November 2013. Also the use of scenes from the film where used which fitted along with the song which i thought looked pretty cool.

4. R5 - Heart Made Up on You
Heart made up on you was released 5th August 2014 and features on their album Sometime Last Night. I really like the concept behind this video because it helps to tell the story behind the lyrics in this song. I also use of special effects in this video because it adds effect.

5. Nathan Sykes - Over and Over Again
Over and Over again was released 28th October 2015 and features on Nathan's new album Unfinished business which is set to be released 4th November 2016. I really like this vide because of way that the shots switch between when she is an elder and when they were younger. I also like the way that the theme of love is portrayed through out this music video.

From looking at different music videos in depth i have learnt what different music producers do so that it makes the music video what it is. I also learnt that certain shots are used to make a music video more interesting.

Camera Shots: 180 Degree rule

180 Degree rule

This is another camera shot that is typically used between 2 characters who are having a conversation, the rule states that you imagine a 180 degree line in the characters eye line and you cannot cross that line. This shot can be established in any environment and is typically used in films and TV shows.

An example of this is is in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In this scene the 180 degree rule is used to capture the emotion coming from Haymitch and Katniss.

Here is my own example of a 180 degree rule.

Now that i have learnt about rule of thirds i would re look at the framing of this shot because i think that you can see too much of the background, i would also next time use a tripod so that the shot was not shaky because if it is it ruins the shot.

Poster Analysis

This is my poster analysis for Kingsman Secret Service.

From analysing this poster i have learned what makes a film poster interesting and what draws people in to make them want to view it such as the colours used or the positioning of certain things within the poster. I also learnt about why certain text is put on the movie poster for example a main actor or actress, the film title and the release date for the movie.

My Preliminary Task

For my preliminary task i have to make a short scene between 2 people where one person enters and sits down opposite another and they have a conversation and i have to also come up with an ending.

Camera Shots: Shot reverse shot

Shot reverse shot

This is a camera angle that is typically used when two characters are in a conversation. This shot can be set up anywhere such as a cafe or beside a river of at a pub or in a house. The clip below is an example of a shot reverse shot in Kingsman: Secret Service.

I have now created my own shot reverse shot sequence we choose two people who stood opposite each other and had a conversation which we recorded with our phones. We first of all recorded a shot from the side of person A and B, we then changed the angle of the camera so it was on Person A over Person Bs shoulder the shot then changes so it is on Person B over Person As shoulder.

Film Reviews

Kingsman

Kingsman is a spy action comedy film, that was released in January 2015; starring Colin Firth this action packed film is based on an Elite Secret service, when a young man called Gary Unwin also know as Eggsy (Taron Egerton) is asked by a member of the Kingsmans secret service, Harry Hart (Colin Firth) to join them. I enjoyed this fill because every scene there was something going on, also the film didn't just follow one story line it followed two different story lines until they met at the end of the film. I also found that in this film that it ended where the film started with the scene at the pub however Eggsy had taken Harrys place repeating the line 'Manners make a man' which is an iconic line in this film.

Inception

Inception is a science fiction heist thriller film that was released 8th July 2010 and was directed by Christopher Nolan. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a thief who is able to enter steal peoples secrets from there subconscious and can enter peoples dreams. They devise a plan to create a dream with in a dream which will have 3 levels that is called Inception Ariadne (Ellen Page) who is an architect student is asked to design all 3 levels of the labyrinth. I really enjoyed this film because even though it was a complicating story line it had a deep underling meaning to it which i thought was really cool, also the way that some characters where portrayed in the film was interesting especially the way that the character of Dom Cobb was portrayed as not only a good character but also it showed that he had a bad side which is something that is true in everyone which i thought was a cool concept.

The Matrix

The Matrix is a American-Australian science fiction film that was released 11th June 1999 and was directed by The Wachowski Brothers. Thomas Anderson leads a double life as a computer programmer and as a hacker who works under the alis of Neo. After being given a choose of the red pill or the blue pill, the red one would give hime the availability to learn the truth about the matrix or the blue pill which will send him back to reality, he chooses the red pill. I liked this film because it had a complicated story line and alot of the scenes in this film had another meaning that was not shown or supposed to be expressed in the film.

Scott Pilgram

Scott Pilgram is a action comedy film that was released 25th August 2010 and was directed by Edgar Wright. It based around a boy called Scott Pilgam (Michael Cera) who falls in love with a girl called Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but however to date her he first has to date her 7 evil ex's. Whilst he is fighting all of her ex's he loses friends after his band The Sex Bob-Omb gets a record deal however in a protest he leaves the band. I really liked this film because it had alot of action scenes in it.
